Heart Walk 2009
Date: Saturday, October 17, 2009, 8-11 a.m., Kemah Boardwalk, Kemah. Volunteer shifts can be anytime from 6:00 am-12 noon (minimum of 3 hrs required for INDS credit). Participation: Open to all students. Specific hours to be scheduled by the American Heart Association volunteer coordinator Michelle Conley (maconley@utmb.edu) 409-772-3006. Description: As the signature fund-raising event for the local American Heart Association, the Heart Walk promotes physical activity and heart-health living in a fun family environment. Heart Disease and stroke are this country's No. 1 and No. 3 causes of death. You can help by participating as a volunteer at the Heart Walk. Activities: Objectives for the Activity: Students will have the opportunity to summarize the benefits of an interdisciplinary approach to the prevention and treatment for heart disease and stroke.
